July 11, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> More than 1,400 workers and 300 emergency response teams are continuing efforts to restore electricity to Belarusian communities affected by severe thunderstorms on July 9 and 10, the Ministry of Energy has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Mahilo\u016d region, over 4,000 personnel and 60 pieces of equipment are addressing the aftermath, according to the Ministry of Forestry. An additional 100 people are involved in recovery efforts in Mahilo\u016d city and the surrounding district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Klimavi\u010dy forest management enterprise in the Mahilo\u016d region was among the hardest hit, with approximately 300 hectares of forest requiring clear cutting. Overall, at least 1,800 hectares of forest in the region are expected to be cleared due to storm damage, the ministry stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mahilo\u016d alone, 4,776 trees were felled by strong winds, according to Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Ba\u0161aryma\u016d, head of the local emergency management office, as reported by mogilevnews.by<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 32-year-old woman was killed when a tree fell on her during a thunderstorm while she was camping outside Mahilo\u016d in the early hours of July 10. Four others, including a teenager, were injured in related incidents and have been hospitalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 9, the Viciebsk region also experienced powerful storms, with wind gusts reaching up to 23 meters per second. In the Haradok district, 29 buildings sustained damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
