July 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian and Russian officials are planning to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) bot to control information in the Union State, says a recent analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast is based on the recent statements by Sergei Glazyev, the Union State’s state secretary, who said that the AI tool should promote \u201ctraditional values.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The youth mostly use foreign AI instruments, including American and Chinese, which may subject young people to manipulation, the state-run media cited the official as saying yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western-developed AI tools may publicize “racism and Nazism as well as glorify fascism, and one has to be very careful about the values which are put inside AI, as it is not immediately obvious,” Glazyev said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union State treaty between Belarus and Russia entered into force in January 2000 after ratification by the parliaments of the two countries. The deal is of unlimited duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, Russia launched an upgrade of the Union State to bind the two countries together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November 2021, Minsk and Moscow signed 28 Union State programs focusing on macroeconomic, industrial and agricultural policies, tax and customs harmonization and a common energy market, which reportedly were implemented by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a security guarantees deal that provides for defending the Union State territory and border with \u201call available forces and means,\u201d including the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons stationed in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
