July 14, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has described France’s Bastille Day as a \u201cturning point\u201d in the history of the struggle for rights and freedom in his congratulatory message addressed to the people of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, these values are of particular importance for states that seek to pursue independent policies and independently build their own future,\u201d his press office quoted the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler hopes that “innate wisdom, rational thinking\u201d and goodwill shared by the peoples of Belarus and France would help bridge divisions and alienation, guiding both nations toward mutual respect and cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk has been regularly excluding political leaders from official greetings to countries that have imposed sanctions on Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a member of the European Union, France did not recognize \u0141uka\u0161enka as the legitimate president of Belarus, while the EU imposed sanctions on his officials following the disputed 2020 presidential election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, Minsk included all EU member countries in a list of states it considers “unfriendly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
