July 15, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Poland granted asylum to about 1,000 Belarusians in the first half of 2025, while 70 applications were rejected, according to the Polish Office for Foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians were the second largest ethnic group in Poland by the number of approvals and denials, surpassed only by Ukrainians (1,500 and 500, respectively).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asylum was denied to 130 Russian nationals (the number of granted applications is not given).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January\u2013June, the office received about 1,600 new applications from Belarusians (about 5,000 from Ukrainians and 400 from Russians).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procedures for nearly 1,500 people were terminated. This primarily concerned nationals of Ukraine (about 300), Ethiopia and Tajikistan (about 100). Procedures are most often terminated if the foreigner left Poland before the ruling was issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The office recalled that since March 27, Poland restricted the acceptance of asylum requests at the border with Belarus. Those filing applications at border guard offices located near the Polish-Belarusian border constitute a small percentage of the total number of applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
