July 16, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Andrea Wiktorin has completed her tenure as Germany\u2019s charg\u00e9 d’affaires in Belarus, the German diplomatic mission has said<\/a> on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTwenty-five years ago, I came to Minsk for the first time. Now, I am saying goodbye for the last time,\u201d Wiktorin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnfortunately, relations between the European Union and Belarus, and between Germany and Belarus, are currently far from ideal. That is why, in this difficult political situation, we have sought to further promote contacts between the citizens of our countries,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her view, Belarus is strongly connected to Europe. \u201cWe are united by a common history, partly very painful. The future of a free, sovereign Belarus is very important to me. I wish us all better times and peace,\u201d Wiktorin stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wiktorin was appointed as Germany\u2019s charg\u00e9 d’affaires in Belarus last September. In 2000\u20132003, she served as permanent representative of the German embassy in Minsk. In 2015\u20132019, she headed the EU Delegation to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
