July 18, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Warsaw-based Free Belarus Museum has collected almost 300 items since its founding three years ago, its head Natalla Zadziarko\u016dskaja said yesterday while unveiling a themed exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition reflects the museum\u2019s mission of showing courage of Belarusians who are ready for sacrifices in their struggle for freedom with each exhibit telling a separate story, she noted, listing several examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One Belarusian was brutally arrested just for refusing to give away his cell phone password in August 2020, another was wounded by a rubber bullet during the postelection protests five years ago, while a young artist Raman Bandarenka was murdered near his house in Minsk later that year, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition also features a letter from prison by artist Ale\u015b Pu\u0161kin, who died behind bars two years ago, Zadziarko\u016dskaja added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka was among those who supported the museum, located in downtown Warsaw at Foksal 11. He thanked the Warsaw City Hall, the embassy for the Netherlands in Poland and prominent Polish patron of the arts Maciej Radziwi\u0142\u0142, a descendant of a famous noble family with Belarusian roots, for supporting the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum proves that Belarusians have character and will to fight for freedom, the politician stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
