July 18, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The interior ministry has added 32 new names to the list of \u201cpersons involved in extremist activities,\u201d taking the total of entries to 5,543, its website says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the blacklisted individuals is Estonian national Allan Roio, released on June 21 after a meeting in Minsk between Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trump\u2019s special envoy for Ukraine. Just two days ago, the Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB) branded him a terrorist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the recent additions were prosecuted on charges that authorities usually use to persecute their political opponents, mostly for alleged violent disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrej Berastavy, Raman Kancavy, Alaksandar Apanovi\u010d, U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d Brauer, Viktar Ivankovi\u010d, Alaksiej Pieravierzie\u016d and Alaksandr Syryca are currently serving their sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pieravierzie\u016d is imprisoned for donating $50 to the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski regiment fighting Russia in Ukraine. Syryca, a prominent Belarusian basketball coach, is serving a four-year term on charges of inciting hatred, association with an extremist group, insulting and slandering Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka. Recently, he was also blacklisted as a terrorist. Rights groups consider their persecution to be politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sentences of 24 individuals remain incomplete, the ministry said, implying that they may serve non-custodial terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are: Raman Hlabko, Alaksandar Bandaruk, \u015aviat\u0142ana Kudyniuk, U\u0142adzimir Sado\u016dski, Anastasija Dzivakova, Maksim Ku\u017eal, D\u017amitryj Sakiryn, Volha Sakiryna, Alena Mitro\u0161kina, Vasil Klimovi\u010d, Hienad\u017a Maksimienka, Alaksiej Dra\u010do\u016d, Volha Dra\u010dova, Jaras\u0142a\u016d Bandar\u010duk, Kami\u0142a Aruciunian, Pavie\u0142 Rusakovi\u010d, Alaksiej Kamu\u0161enka, Siarhiej Kaziej, Iryna \u0160\u010debietava, Alaksandar Falitar, Andrej Kruhlik, Andrej Sa\u0142anieka, Natalla Zaharelskaja as well as Alaksiej Stalaro\u016d, who was exempted from criminal liability due to a lack of criminal intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People placed on the list of individuals involved in extremist activities are banned from any education- and publishing-related activity, as well as from holding state positions and from doing military service, for five years after completing their sentences or after the related conviction is deleted from the criminal record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their financial transactions are subject to close monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the crackdown on the 2020 postelection protests, authorities in Belarus equated criticism, solidarity, advocacy, the free media and free expression to extremism and terrorism.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
