{"id":1474,"date":"2023-08-15T23:20:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T20:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=1474"},"modified":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T12:05:06","slug":"kgb-brands-startup-hub-human-rights-group-as-extremist-organizations","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/1474\/","title":{"rendered":"KGB brands startup hub, human rights group as extremist organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>August 15,&nbsp;<em>BPN.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong>The Committee for State Security (KGB) on August 9 declared a startup hub and a human rights group extremist organizations, according to an updated list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list&nbsp;now has 142 entries and includes Imaguru, a Belarusian innovation company with offices in Vilnius, Warsaw and Madrid, and Viasna Homiel, a branch of the Viasna Human Rights Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The KGB also named imprisoned journalist \u0141arysa \u0160\u010dyrakova as a member of Viasna Homiel. She is accused of discrediting the Republic of Belarus and promoting extremism, human rights activists say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Viasna Homiel, she had given up journalism for psychology studies and photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imaguru&#8217;s founder Ta\u0107ciana Maryni\u010d and its staff members Anastasija Chamiankova, Andrej Novak and Kaciaryna Boulton-Smith were also added to the extremist list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imaguru was one of the most popular meeting platforms for businesspeople, startup representatives and investors in the Belarusian capital. It hosted business events, a startup accelerator, residency programs, and training for business angels. The hub also provided a platform for social and cultural events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May 2021, the head office moved to the Spanish capital after &#8220;the regime deprived the startup hub Imaguru of space in Minsk.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maryni\u010d told&nbsp;<em>BPN&nbsp;<\/em>in October 2022 that the company&#8217;s target group is Belarusian startups and IT companies that have relocated or are relocating to Poland, Lithuania and other countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 15,&nbsp;BPN.&nbsp;The Committee for State Security (KGB) on August 9 declared a startup hub and a human rights group extremist organizations, according to an updated list.
