{"id":148239,"date":"2025-07-25T17:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T14:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/148239\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"moscow-reasserts-naming-rules-for-belarusian-orthodox-church","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/148239\/","title":{"rendered":"Moscow reasserts naming rules for Belarusian Orthodox Church"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 25, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) yesterday decided to remind the Belarusian Orthodox Church (BOC) that the official names of the Belarusian exarchate and its \u201ccanonical structures\u201d must contain the elements \u201cRussian Orthodox Church\u201d or \u201cMoscow Patriarchate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision was published in <em>Holy Synod Journal<\/em> No. 54.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2024, media reported that the Belarusian exarchate of the ROC, whose legal name is Republican Religious Association \u201cBelarusian Orthodox Church,\u201d was the first entity to undergo reregistration in line with the law on religion dated December 30, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the BOC includes 17 dioceses. Pozirk sees that their names are indicated differently on the websites\u2014some include the required element, while others do not.
