August 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The edict \u201cOn Transfer to Reserve and on Draft for Active Duty or Reserve Service\u201d was signed today by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, his press office has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document provides for the conscription in September\u2013November of male citizens who have turned 18 and are not eligible for deferment, as well as draft-age citizens who have lost their right to deferment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also provides for the transfer to the reserve of conscripts who have completed their required term of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, \u0141uka\u0161enka signed similar edicts on the fall draft on August 7; in 2023, on July 27; in 2022, on July 4; in 2021, on July 20; in 2020, on August 3; and in 2019, on July 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus holds two call-ups per year: the fall draft and the spring draft. \u0141uka\u0161enka signs a separate edict for each call-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of 2023, the fitness standards for conscripts were lowered. The upper weight limit at which citizens are considered unfit for service in special operations forces increased from 90 to 100 kg. However, men weighing more than 100 kg may be drafted into the border service, special police squads and military units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, citizens with serious obesity, or with six to eight diopters of myopia, were not assigned to enlistment offices and were considered unfit, even for reserve service in peacetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, these citizens are recognized as partially fit for active duty and reserve service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
