August 14, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The board of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) has decided to launch an investigation into \u201cpossible harassment\u201d by Barys Harecki, the association\u2019s deputy chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor now, Barys Harecki\u2019s representative and leadership functions in the BAJ are suspended,\u201d the association said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPossible victims\u201d can contact the BAJ via a dedicated email address. \u201cAnonymous messages will not be considered,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days ago, Harecki said on Facebook that some of his remarks may be interpreted as sexual harassment and expressed regrets for them. However, he denied having improper relationships or sending indecent photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor the past week, some people have persistently hinted to me that there is dirt on you, and if you don\u2019t do certain things, we will publish it. We will tear you and your BAJ to shreds,\u201d Harecki said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He suggested making his actions and messages public if people consider them immoral and think he shouldn\u2019t represent the media sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
