August 15, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The passenger car queue at the Belarusian-Polish border at the Brest-Terespol checkpoint that is handling all passenger traffic between both countries grew by 1,180 vehicles since August 11, the Belarusian Border Committee reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 3,650 cars and 80 buses are currently waiting to enter Poland, it noted, blaming the queues on the Polish side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus-registered passenger cars are banned from entering the Baltic states. Belarusians wishing to travel to the European Union by car can do so only via Terespol, the only crossing handling passenger traffic between Belarus and Poland after the closure of the checkpoint in Bobrowniki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warsaw linked the latter\u2019s reopening to the release of Polish minority activist Andrzej Poczobut, imprisoned for eight years in Belarus in a criminal case widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
