August 19, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Iran\u2019s President Masoud Pezeshkian\u00a0will arrive in Minsk on an official visit today and is expected to meet Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka tomorrow for talks, the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sides are expected to discuss regional and international politics, trade, investments and industrial cooperation as well as sign several bilateral documents to expand the partnership, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit will take place amid Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s increased contacts with Washington and tensions between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Iran, the president holds the second-highest position of power after the supreme leader. The president is the head of the executive branch and responsible for the day-to-day running of the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pezeshkian, a former cardiac surgeon, was elected president last July after Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash. He has served as minister of health and medical education (2001\u20132005) and first deputy parliamentary speaker (2016\u20132020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
