August 19, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian State Border Committee has reported resuming the operation of the Kamienny \u0141oh checkpoint (opposite Lithuania\u2019s Medininkai).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBelarus carried out software work between 11:30 and 14:15 on August 19,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, the committee announced the suspension of cross-border movement of vehicles and individuals in both directions. \u201cThe temporary suspension of registration is connected to setting up software,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, Pozirk<\/em> reported on peak queues of buses at the Brest checkpoint (opposite Poland\u2019s Terespol).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brest is the only motor vehicle checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border accessible to travelers. In 2023, Poland indefinitely closed another such checkpoint, Bobrowniki (opposite Belarus\u2019 Bierastavica), after Hrodna had sentenced Andrej Pa\u010dobut, a journalist and Polish minority activist, to eight years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same year, Lithuania closed the \u0160umskas (\u0141o\u0161a) and Tvere\u010dius (Vidzy) checkpoints. Besides, in September 2023, Latvia closed and blocked the Silene (Urbany) checkpoint due to the increased flow of migrants desperate to get into the EU from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
