August 19, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian embassy in Russia has said that it is looking into the alleged forced labor of several dozen people in the Voronezh province, including Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomats reportedly identified the phone numbers of the Belarusians and managed to reach one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also forwarded the allegations to the Brest region\u2019s citizenship and migration department for verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission stated that it is “monitoring the situation” and will share more details “based on the results of the inspection by law enforcement agencies of Belarus and Russia.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 14, the Russian volunteer movement Alternativa said on Telegram that four people, including three Belarusian nationals, were freed from labor slavery in the Voronezh province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the alleged victims, they worked at a local farm without pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the same day, the Belarusian foreign ministry confirmed the release of Belarusian nationals from labor slavery in Spain. However, the story was used for propaganda purposes. The ministry stated that after the investigation, the Belarusians could safely return home\u2014\u201cwhere\u00a0they don\u2019t have to hide from their employer in a barn and get paid in bread and promises.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
