August 21, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A drone that exploded yesterday in the cornfield near Osiny, eastern Poland, most likely came from Belarus, Poland\u2019s TVN24<\/em> reports, citing Lublin District Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz, who commented on the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area where the incident took place is being searched for explosives, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three power lines showing signs of recent damage have been repaired, the official said, linking the disruption to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Polish Defense Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the drone was of Russian origin and described the incident as “another Russian provocation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, investigators have not yet been able to identify the manufacturer or specific type of device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has been experiencing drone incursions regularly since mid-2024 as Russians attack Ukraine. In late July, a UAV reportedly struck a residential building in Minsk, landed on a parked vehicle and exploded. Investigators later said that the drone was carrying TNT and steel balls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a rare instance earlier this year, Belarusian Deputy Interior Minister Mika\u0142aj Karpianko\u016d acknowledged frequent sightings of combat drones and admitted that Belarusian air defenses struggle to counter this type of UAVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
