August 22, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The number of \u201cextremist\u201d groups in Belarus has increased by three. The list on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website now contains 307 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian Association of Human Rights Lawyers has been added to the list in line with the August 18 decision of the Committee for State Security (KGB). Officers named lawyers D\u017amitry \u0141aje\u016dski and Maryja Kolesava-Hudzilina as members of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two more initiatives were added to the list by the interior ministry\u2019s decision of August 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One is the WLM project, with members identified as Zachar Papu\u0161oj, Mika\u0142aj Tamko, and Michai\u0142 Mavura\u016d. It runs a Telegram channel (9,357 subscribers) under the slogan \u201cWhites of all countries, unite!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another one is BelVarta, allegedly involving Siarhiej Biaspa\u0142a\u016d and Diana Hierasimovi\u010d. The Telegram channel of the same name (5,184 subscribers) calls it \u201can anonymous network for collecting and publishing the truth about Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all three cases, officers listed social media accounts, and in two of the three, email addresses as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian Association of Human Rights Lawyers emerged abroad in April 2023. It united attorneys whom Minsk denied the right to practice their profession and forced into exile. The association\u2019s web pages have already been designated as \u201cextremist content.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also today, the interior ministry added 42 people to the list of \u201cpersons involved in extremist activities.\u201d The document on the ministry\u2019s website contains 5,663 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, on August 21, the KGB added four more Belarusians to the list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
