August 27, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/strong>.<\/em> Poland did not allow at least 1,060 third-country foreigners to cross irregularly via Belarus from August 22 to 25, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of border guards’ data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish authorities have reported some 4,390 irregular crossings since the start of August, which is almost twice the number recorded in the same period in July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attempts to cross into Latvia irregularly have dropped from 1,710 in 25 days of July to 1,041 since the start of August. However, Lithuania reported an increase from 53 to 114 attempts in this period.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors have thwarted at least 32,905 irregular crossings since January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people desperate to get to the EU surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
