August 27, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Several thousand Pakistanis will come to Belarus for work, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Ivan Kubrako\u016d today, according to Pakistan\u2019s interior ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drugs, border security and training of law enforcement officers and signed an extradition agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan will make every effort to send the best, thoroughly checked workforce to Belarus, Mohsin Naqvi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also mentioned Naqvi\u2019s intention to visit Belarus, but it is unclear when such a visit would take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian interior ministry reported on Kubrako\u016d\u2019s visit to Pakistan, but not on the latest plans to accept several thousand workers from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 11, following a meeting in Minsk with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said he discussed a mechanism for Pakistani labor migrants to go to Belarus. According to \u0141uka\u0161enka, Belarus was ready to accept 100,000\u2013150,000 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement has caused a mixed reaction in Belarusian society, to the dissatisfaction of the government. \u0141uka\u0161enka claimed that certain forces wanted to \u201cstir up Belarusian society\u201d by focusing on immigration issues, in particular the arrival of Pakistani staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
