September 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Change in Belarus is inevitable, but it must be accelerated, Belarusian pro-democracy leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said at the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her press office, more officials within the Belarusian government system are now looking forward to a transition of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja urged European countries to support Belarusian journalists, human rights defenders and cultural initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring to the hundreds of thousands of Belarusians who fled the country to escape political persecution, she stressed that the pro-democracy movement does not have \u201ca state of its own or a territory,\u201d but it does have a society that longs for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are looking for ways to help them with legalization, documents and education, so that Belarus remains on the international agenda. We are doing our best to support those fighting inside the country. We are also working to preserve and expand Belarus\u2019 ties with Europe,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
