September 4, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service did not allow at least 55 third-country foreigners to cross irregularly via Belarus yesterday, according to Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of the official data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number is just below the peak of 57 daily attempts recorded on November 21, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the start of 2025, Lithuania has thwarted 1,134 irregular crossings, more than double compared to January \u2013 early September 2024, when 492 attempts were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latvia, Lithuania and Poland have thwarted at least 34,470 irregular crossings since January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people desperate to cross into the European Union surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
