September 5, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The arrest of Polish national Grzegorz Gawe\u0142 in Belarus, suspected of spying, is Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s \u201canother provocation\u201d against Poland, said Jacek Dobrzy\u0144ski, spokesman for the Polish minister coordinator of special services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolish special services do not use monks to gather information about military maneuvers,\u201d the official stressed on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warsaw is well aware of the Minsk regime and knows what to expect from it, said Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski in a comment on the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Marcin Bosacki, secretary of state at Poland\u2019s foreign ministry, called Gawe\u0142\u2019s arrest a “bad signal” from Minsk, suggesting it could be either a provocation or a fabricated story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the state-run Belarus 1 <\/em>channel reported on the arrest of a Polish national in Lepiel, Viciebsk region, on suspicion of spying. He was identified as Grzegorz Gawe\u0142, born in 1998, a resident of Krakow and a Carmelite monk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report claimed that he collected classified information about the counterintelligence command and its officers, military sites and the forthcoming Zapad-2025 exercise for the Internal Security Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
