{"id":154219,"date":"2025-09-08T09:31:49","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T06:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/154219\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"cichanouskaja-kalesnikava-and-all-other-political-prisoners-must-be-freed","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/154219\/","title":{"rendered":"Cichano\u016dskaja: Kale\u015bnikava and all other political prisoners must be freed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>September 8, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Maryja Kale\u015bnikava and all other political prisoners must be released, \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja stated on the fifth anniversary of her ally\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cichano\u016dskaja said Kale\u015bnikava was \u201cabducted by the regime\u2019s thugs\u201d and \u201chas been held in the most inhumane conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka uses political prisoners as \u201cbargaining chips.\u201d \u201cFor us, they are heroes,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kale\u015bnikava, a prominent figure in the 2020 presidential race, was arrested in downtown Minsk five years ago. The next day, she was taken to the border with Ukraine. To avoid exile, the activist tore up her passport. Security officers brought her back, and she was sentenced to 11 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kale\u015bnikava is serving her sentence in a women\u2019s penal colony in Homiel. Currently, she is with her labor squad, but earlier she did time in a punishment cell as well as the colony\u2019s internal prison (PKT). During her imprisonment, Kale\u015bnikava underwent a complex surgery.
