September 8, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Yesterday evening, the Polish border guards found the wreckage of a drone in Polatycze near the Terespol border crossing that currently handles all passenger traffic with Belarus, Polish media outlets reported, citing the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drone was likely used by smugglers and most probably did not carry explosives, though a small fire broke out nearby, the report said. Cyrillic inscriptions were found on the wreckage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, a similar incident was reported near Majdan Sielec in the Lublin viovodeship, some 50 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A drone that crashed on August 20 near Osiny, eastern Poland, most likely came from Belarus, Polish officials said. Polish Defense Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz said it was of Russian origin and described the incident as \u201canother Russian provocation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has been experiencing drone incursions regularly since mid-2024 as Russians attack Ukraine. In late July, a UAV reportedly struck a residential building in Minsk, landed on a parked vehicle and exploded. Investigators later said that the drone was carrying TNT and steel balls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
