September 10, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw has authorized the detention of Belarusian national U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d N. for three months, the Polish Internal Security Agency (ISA) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian was arrested two days ago on suspicion of spying in Poland and Hungary. According to reports, the arrest was the result of a long-lasting operation by the ISA and the Czech, Hungarian, Romanian and Moldovan intelligence agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the prosecutor charged the detainee with taking part in foreign intelligence activities against Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrest is linked to a crackdown on an alleged spy network across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moldova\u2019s foreign ministry announced today the expulsion of a Belarusian diplomat, who must leave the country within the timeframe set by diplomatic procedure, Moldpres reported, citing ministry spokeswoman Tatiana Barac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move came after Czechia and Poland expelled Belarusian diplomats as part of an operation carried out in cooperation with the secret services of Hungary and Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, the Czech Security Information Service reported that Romanian authorities had detained a former deputy director of Moldova\u2019s Intelligence and Security Service on suspicion of spying for Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Czechia reportedly expelled administrative advisor Mika\u0142aj Duk\u0161ta, a position in Belarusian embassies that is typically held by an officer of the Committee for State Security (KGB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 foreign ministry condemned the expulsions by Prague and Warsaw, vowing to retaliate. On September 4, the Belarus 1<\/em> state television channel, linked to the KGB, reported the violent arrest of Grzegorz Gawe\u0142, born in 1998 and a resident of Krakow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was accused of spying for Poland to collect information about Belarusian military command and preparations for the exercise Zapad-2025 scheduled to take place in Belarus from September 12 to September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the run up to the drill, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwi\u0144ski has announced that Poland will close its border with Belarus not only during Zapad-2025, but possibly for a longer period, citing security concerns. He said that the border would open when officials are fully confident that Belarus does not pose a direct threat to Poland or its citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
