September 12, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Former prisoner Andrej Kry\u0142o\u016d has stated that the Belarusian regime sentences people who make small donations to opposition groups to very long terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a press conference in Vilnius, Kry\u0142o\u016d said, \u201cThere is a consistent trend at the Babrujsk colony. They arrest heavy and large numbers of political prisoners. For some donation of three and a half dollars, they are sentenced to seven or five years. A week or two ago, guys came with these sentences for some donations, for one and a half euros. They send these political prisoners from the colony to prisons and jails all the time. These are new arrivals, all fresh. They issue these long sentences and then mercilessly drive them to prisons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before his arrest in the spring of 2021, Kry\u0142o\u016d was a technical supervision engineer in Va\u016dkavysk, Hrodna region. In the fall of the same year, the man was sentenced to five years in a medium-security prison for allegedly organizing mass riots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kry\u0142o\u016d was charged with a Telegram comment in which he allegedly called on Belarusians to riot. The man pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
