September 13, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>More than 1,100 jailed regime critics still remain behind bars in Belarus, German MP Robin Wagener, co-founder of the Democratic Belarus group in the Bundestag, said in a post on X following the recent pardon of 52 dissidents in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will not stop until all of them are free,” he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wagener, who had been a symbolic godfather to the recently freed journalist Ihar \u0141osik, welcomed his liberation and arrival in Lithuania, describing it as safe. \u201cOver the years I tried to stand by his side: as his political godparent, in parliament, through letters, resolutions and protest actions,\u201d the MP said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja also noted that the ultimate goal is the liberation of all people jailed in politically-motivated cases in Belarus and ensuring that they can live safely in their own country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141osik was one of the 52 people pardoned by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka after his meeting with the US diplomats on September 11. They all were taken to Lithuania except for prominent opposition politician Mika\u0142aj Statkievi\u010d, who may be under arrest after his reported refusal to leave Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
