September 15, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>. Inflation in Belarus has eased recently but remains at a relatively high level, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in its weekly macroeconomic report, citing a slowdown in food prices from 10.6 percent in July to 9.9 percent in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysts attributed the trend to a drop in prices for seasonal vegetables and fruit to 6.6 percent in August after 14.5 percent posted in July.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Belarus saw a 0.3-percent decrease in consumer prices. However, inflation was 5.3 percent since December 2024 and 7.2 percent year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inflationary pressure remains high, the EDB said, noting that core inflation rose by 0.2 percentage points to 7.7 percent in August and confirming its forecast of 7.7-percent inflation by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government had initially planned to cut inflation to 5 percent, but the annual rate may be higher, central bank\u2019s head Raman Ha\u0142o\u016dcanka told the state-run Belarus 1 <\/em>TV channel yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
