September 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, speaking at today\u2019s award presentation ceremony, strongly denied Belarus\u2019 involvement in last week\u2019s incursion of 19 drones into Poland. He said that his country\u2019s air defenses had shot down half of the UAVs that were headed for Polish territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have nothing to do with anything that flies into Poland or Lithuania today,\u201d the Belarusian leader said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf we howled like them after every drone incursion from Ukraine, Russia, or via Poland, Lithuania. . . We have never done that. We react calmly through proper channels,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka said, as quoted by his press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf they howled after we had downed half of the drones, even though we did not know their origin or type . . .  We just downed them. We failed to shoot down a few pieces. We spent massive resources to destroy these drones, which were flying to Poland, not to our land. And we told them [the Poles] how many UAVs were flying and where,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to \u0141uka\u0161enka, Poland has admitted that Minsk was unaware of the drones\u2019 origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHowever, they are messing with us. So they are up to something. We must unravel them. We have unraveled these plans and must resist them without explaining anything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He instructed Belarusian agencies to learn how to deflect any drone operating on any frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is our school; we must know how to do it. The world has learned how to do it. That\u2019s our task, in addition to intercepting and blowing up missiles. . . We must be able to protect ourselves. As soon as we master downing UAVs, a whole era will immediately fade into oblivion. And we will stop worshiping these UAVs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka specifically assigned this task to the military-industrial complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 10, Poland reported a massive drone incursion, the first in three and a half years of Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine. According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, some of the drones flew over Belarus\u2019 Brest region. Warsaw called it an act of aggression. One residential building was reported damaged. Polish and NATO forces were scrambled to down the UAVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Belarusian ruler accused Warsaw of overreacting \u201clike savages\u201d to drone incursions and criticized its decision to close the border with Belarus in connection with the Belarusian-Russian military maneuvers Zapad-2025, which began on September 12 and are expected to conclude on September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
