September 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d N. was found in possession of a list of Belarusians granted asylum in Poland, RMF24<\/em> has reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegeldy, by order of the Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB), U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d was monitoring people on the list and sharing information with Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials are investigating whether U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d was harassing any of these individuals. The Polish Internal Security Agency (ISA) is interviewing those listed and checking whether they faced threats, blackmail and surveillance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian community was just one of U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d\u2019s focuses, the news website noted. He is also suspected of \u201cacting on behalf of a foreign intelligence agency against Poland.\u201d \u201cHe was allegedly paid for providing information,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland reported U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d\u2019s arrest on September 8 and his three-month detention on September 10. The Belarusian was taken into custody on suspicion of spying in Poland and Hungary. The arrest was the result of a long operation by the ISA and the Czech, Hungarian, Romanian and Moldovan intelligence agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 9, the prosecutor charged the detainee with engaging in foreign intelligence activities against Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrest was part of a crackdown on an alleged spy network across Europe that led to diplomatic expulsions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
