September 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The European Parliament delegation for relations with Belarus has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the Viasna Human Rights Center head and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ale\u015b Bialacki, as well as all other political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement, dedicated to the human rights defender’s 63rd birthday, was signed by the delegation chairwoman Ma\u0142gorzata Gosiewska and her deputies. A translation of the statement was published by Belarusian politician Anatol Labied\u017aka on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bialacki is described as a man whose life embodies courage, perseverance and unwavering dedication to the cause of freedom and human dignity. He is at the forefront of Belarus\u2019 struggle for democracy, inspiring not only his compatriots but also countless people across Europe and around the world, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When dictatorship intensified in Belarus in the 1990s, Bialacki refused to remain silent, it said. In response to a brutal crackdown on peaceful demonstrators, he founded the Viasna center to support political prisoners and their families. What began as an act of solidarity in a dark moment has grown into one of the leading human rights organizations that documents abuses and torture committed by the authorities, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It noted that the human rights defender is serving his sentence incommunicado at Penal Colony No. 9 in Horki, Mahilo\u016d region. The public is unaware of his current state of health. According to the letter, he is deliberately subjected to harsh and humiliating conditions. These measures are intended to break his spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
