September 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d discussed United Nations reforms and the next secretary-general’s election with Annalena Baerbock, president of the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York, the foreign ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d spoke of the need to ensure equal rights for all states within the General Assembly and stressed the importance of maintaining effective UN governance, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official also condemned \u201cdouble standards that undermine trust in the UN\u2019s universal character.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d also held talks with UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, reaffirming Minsk\u2019s readiness to support genuine multilateral cooperation and contribute to the consolidation of efforts among member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister reportedly thanked the UN Secretary-General for supporting Belarus’ Chernobyl-related initiatives, combating human trafficking and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UN General Assembly high-level General Debate will conclude tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
