September 29, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Changes in Russia will begin with changes in Belarus, since the latter is better prepared for a democratic transition, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has told the Warsaw Security Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian society is more consolidated and pro-European compared to Russia, she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe should adopt a consistent approach toward Belarus without being influenced by its relationship with Russia, the politician added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja described the recent border closure by Poland as a strong move in this context, noting China\u2019s constructive role in resolving the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician also advocated for maintaining pressure on Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime through targeted sanctions, diplomatic isolation and a policy of non-recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warsaw Security Forum focuses on strengthening transatlantic cooperation and shaping joint responses to security challenges in Central and Eastern Europe. Held annually since 2014, the event gathers over 2,500 high-level officials, business leaders, experts and civil society representatives from more than 90 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
