September 30, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Repression in Belarus continues unabated, yet many Belarusians are engaged in resistance activities such as leaking information about the militarization of the economy amid Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine, opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She made the remark during a Warsaw Security Forum panel titled The Unbroken: Fight for Democratic Sovereignty in a Hostile Neighborhood.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small underground groups in Belarus still carry out acts of sabotage, while senior officials pass information to the opposition about sanctions evasion, she said. Pro-democracy forces even maintain communication channels with some members of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s inner circle who acknowledge the need for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe resistance movement is alive. I am sure that when the time comes, people will be ready. Despite repression, torture and intimidation by the regime, people have not forgotten its crimes and have not forgiven,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja emphasized that although those in exile can speak louder, it does not mean Belarusians inside the country are doing less. She underlined the importance of maintaining ties with Belarus, noting that people still have opportunities to travel to Lithuania and Poland, exchange information and sustain people-to-people contacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warsaw Security Forum, held annually since 2014, focuses on strengthening transatlantic cooperation and shaping joint responses to security challenges in Central and Eastern Europe. The event gathers more than 2,500 high-level officials, business leaders, experts, and civil society representatives from over 90 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
