October 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ukraine and Russia have exchanged prisoners of war on Belarusian territory once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Russian defense ministry, each side handed over 185 soldiers and 20 civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As usual, the ministry said the Russian soldiers are now receiving psychological and medical attention in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It pointed out that the swap was carried out through UAE mediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, 183 of Ukraine\u2019s returning defenders are privates and sergeants. Two are officers. They include members of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service, his Telegram channel said. Twenty civilians are also coming back with the defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of them had been in captivity since 2022, Zelensky said. He thanked everyone who made such exchanges possible. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has managed to bring back more than 7,000 of its people, he said. He called for the return of all prisoners and said that work on this is carried out daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last time Kyiv and Moscow exchanged prisoners of war using Belarusian territory was on August 24. Thus, Ukraine and Russia have already conducted 18 rounds of swaps since the beginning of this year, as compared with 12 exchanges in all of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
