October 2, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A total of 37,889 attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus were recorded by the neighboring EU countries in the first nine months of 2025, according to official statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland documented 69.7 percent of these attempts; Latvia, 26.9 percent; and Lithuania, 3.4 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As compared with the same period last year, the number of tries rose by 18.7 percent. The Latvian border saw an increase of 2.3 times from last year\u2019s level. The Lithuanian border saw an increase of 2 times. Conversely, the Polish border saw a decrease of 1.7 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September, the three countries noticed 3,844 attempts to sneak in from Belarus, 1.7 times below the August level (however, there was an 8.4-percent increase in annual terms).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past month, migration intensified 1.6 times on the Lithuanian sector (197 against 123 attempts) but decreased by 16 percent on the Latvian sector (1,027 against 1,222 attempts) and by 51 percent on the Polish sector (2,620 against 5,340 attempts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two straight months, the number of tries to enter Latvia was decreasing (by 2 times in total). Lithuania saw an upward trend, with a 3.3-times spike. Poland saw mixed trends, with a 1.4-times increase in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
