October 2, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The International Organization for Migration (IOM) funded a trip by Belarusian officials to Pakistan from September 22 to 26, where they learned about effective border management strategies and risk assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip came amid tensions between Belarus and its neighbors accusing the government in Minsk of involvement in facilitating irregular migration by third-country nationals to the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group included officials from the State Border Committee and the foreign and interior ministries who discussed the deployment of rapid mobile response mechanisms and procedures for identifying and redirecting vulnerable migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meetings were held at Pakistan\u2019s foreign ministry, interior ministry, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) and Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation familiarized itself with National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) services to register civil status for both nationals and foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also shown the digital Readmission Case Management System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of effective migration management were discussed at Pakistan\u2019s Federal Investigative Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials also met with activists of \u201cseveral non-governmental organizations working with vulnerable groups of migrants.\u201d The nonprofits shared their experiences in migrant protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit was part of the international project \u201cStrengthening the Capacity of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus in Response to Increased Migration at Borders,\u201d which is funded by the IOM Development Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
