October 4, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> About 20 people have held a protest outside the German Embassy in Warsaw to demand that D\u017amitry \u0160ynvize be brought to justice under German law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0160ynvize, who was a unit commander at Babrujsk\u2019s Penal Colony No. 2, likely lives under the name Dimitri Sch\u00f6nwiese in Schwerin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protest was organized by RUCH, an international Belarusian nationalist organization, with the backing of the Da Voli political prisoners union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protesters planned to hand over an appeal to the German government, but the guards rejected it, noting that it was a day off at the embassy and advising them to submit the motion on Monday (or send it by mail).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the appeal, there are reasonable suspicions that \u0160ynvize was involved in torture and committed \u201cother grave human rights violations in Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ex-political prisoner Aleh Kule\u0161a told the rally that the warden forced inmates who were advised against manual labor for health reasons to do hard work. \u0160ynvize called himself Russian and required Kule\u0161a, a Belarusian speaker, to speak Russian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0160ynvize reportedly moved to Germany based on his German ancestry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
