October 9, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The number of people diagnosed with musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders surged by 80 percent between 2022 and 2024, reaching 900,000 cases, Medicine Professor Natalla Martusievi\u010d has told journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the number of people diagnosed with osteoarthritis increased by 30,000 compared to 2022; with rheumatoid arthritis, by 3,000, and gout, by some 4,000, she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official data show that about 170,000 people in Belarus suffer from osteoarthritis, but Martusievi\u010d believes that the actual number of people affected by arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle inflammation and other similar diseases may be at least five times higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctor linked the surge to lifestyle changes, including a faster pace of life, higher stress levels, overeating and lack of physical activity as well as the aftereffects of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
