{"id":159396,"date":"2025-10-09T23:16:48","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T20:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/159396\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"belarusian-diplomat-gaslights-poland-and-lithuania-over-illegal-migration","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/159396\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarusian diplomat slams Poland, Lithuania over illegal migration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 9, <em>Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Vadzim Pachom\u010dyk, a diplomat with the Belarusian embassy in Austria, has told the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime that his country vigorously counteracts illegal migration despite Western sanctions, according to the state media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the beginning of 2025, EU countries have reported more than 38,500 attempts to cross into their territory from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reacting to Lithuanian and Polish accusations of instrumentalizing migration, Pachom\u010dyk said that these countries themselves \u201care the main cause of the humanitarian catastrophe of migrants on their borders with the Belarusian state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Polish and Lithuanian authorities are using the practice of forcibly pushing migrants back into Belarus, as a result of which dozens of migrants have been killed and hundreds injured,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the diplomat, irregular migrants are using Belarus as a transit corridor to the West from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. However, Belarusian law \u201cprovides for administrative and criminal liability for violations in the field of migration policy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy the end of 2024, about 5,500 foreigners were expelled from Belarus. In total, the list includes more than 7,500 people.
