October 13, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Human rights activists have confirmed the detention of 88 people over links to the Bie\u0142aruski Hajun resistance group, the Viasna Human Rights Center says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total number of detainees is significantly higher, the group added, noting that arrests are still taking place across Belarus and the Homiel region in particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to earlier reports by Flagshtok<\/em>, more than 250 arrests might have been made as part of the case in the Homiel region alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the start of September, 68 people convicted on extremism-related charges have been added to the official extremist register, including defendants in the Bie\u0142aruski case, yet rights defenders have no information on them, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Bie\u0142aruski Hajun monitored military activity in Belarus. The project folded on February 7, soon after unknown individuals gained access to its chatbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
