October 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Barysa\u016d-based Belarusian-Chinese carmaker BelGee sold 8,347 new passenger cars in Russia in September, almost twice as many as in September 2024, according to Pozirk\u2019s analysis of data from Russia\u2019s ASM Holding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, BelGee ranked 4th among all cars in this market segment, with a market share of 6.9 percent. Its sales in Russia jumped 61.4 percent in January-September to 40,519 vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The surge is likely linked to the company\u2019s pricing strategy. Earlier, Russian media reported that BelGee was aggressively undercutting competitors in the passenger car market by significant discounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) sold just 192 buses in Russia in January-September, with sales dropping by half year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the company’s September sales rose nearly fourfold to 30 buses compared to the same month in 2024. MAZ ranked fourth in the Russian bus market after Russian manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian buses have been reported to regularly catch fire in Russia and Belarus. This is likely due to the sanctions imposed on MAZ by Western democracies, which deprived the company of some high-quality components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
