October 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian mercenaries who lost their lives fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine fell victim to Belarusian propaganda and Russian imperialistic narratives, said Vadzim Kaban\u010duk, opposition transition cabinet’s defense chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former deputy commander of the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment fighting alongside Ukrainian forces made this remark after reports by the Ukrainian hochuzhit.com service that one in four Belarusians fighting for Russia was killed in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On average, about six and a half months pass between the signing of a military contract and official confirmation of the individual’s death, said the project that helps Russian troops safely surrender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLooking at the list of those killed in action, it\u2019s worth noting that they spent a relatively long time on the front lines \u2014 considering the average lifespan of a Russian soldier is about three weeks,\u201d Kaban\u010duk said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian mercenaries recruited by Russia are reportedly not seeking to form any kind of community and are scattered across all Russian units and are occasionally taken prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many volunteers typically have limited education or skills, with some previously working as migrant laborers on Russian construction sites, Kaban\u010duk said, adding that they could have been lured by promises of quick and easy money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tragic that these are Belarusians and that Belarus is already feeling the war\u2019s breath,\u201d Kaban\u010duk said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
