October 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> A crackdown targeting Belarusians who shared information on Russian military equipment movements with the Bie\u0142aruski Hajun initiative is clear evidence of systematic human rights abuse in Belarus, the Ukrainian foreign ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka treats the arrested as his \u201cexchange pool,\u201d hoping to use innocent people as political leverage, it noted, calling on the international community to increase pressure on the Belarusian ruler and his associates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2022, Minsk has been complicit in the crime of aggression against Ukraine by providing its territory, airspace and resources for Russia to wage war against Ukraine, Kyiv stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, Belarusian rights defenders confirmed the detention of at least 88 people over links to Bie\u0142aruski Hajun. The total number of detainees is significantly higher, the Viasna Human Rights Center said, noting that arrests are still taking place across Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\u00a0Flagshtok\u00a0<\/em>news website, more than 250 arrests might have been made in the Homiel region alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Bie\u0142aruski Hajun monitored military activity in Belarus. The project folded in early February 2025, soon after unknown individuals gained access to its chatbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founder Anton Matolka urged his sources to flee Belarus after he discovered the data breach, blaming it on human error. A few months later, Matolka was given 20 years in prison in Belarus without being present at the trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
