October 17, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A total of 145,717 Belarusians held valid residence permits in Poland as of October 1, according to data by the Polish Office for Foreigners that it shared at the request of the Warsaw-based Center of Belarusian Solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of these, more than 90,000 have temporary residence permits, while about 42,000 hold permanent residence permits, according to official data. Poland granted international protection to about 9,700 Belarusians and refugee status and temporary protection to about 1,500. Some 2,000 Belarusians are permanent European Union residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most Belarusians, 62 percent, received residence permits this year based on employment in Poland, while family reunion and other reasons accounted for 20 and 14 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geographically, 54,000 Belarusians chose the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and Warsaw, followed by the Podlaskie Voivodeship and Bia\u0142ystok near the border with Belarus, with 14,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Men accounted for 57 percent of Belarusians who received residence permits in Poland in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland issued more than 250,000 visas to Belarusians from August 2020 to late September 2025, mostly under the Poland Business Harbour program suspended last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the 2020 political crisis in Belarus, Poland became a primary destination for Belarusians fleeing politically-motivated persecution at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
