{"id":160492,"date":"2025-10-17T20:01:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T17:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/160492\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"supreme-court-finds-man-who-died-in-1997-guilty-of-genocide","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/160492\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court finds man who died in 1997 guilty of genocide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 17, <em>Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Supreme Court has found Osyp Wynnycky, a deceased Nazi auxiliary police company commander, guilty of genocide, the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It stated that the convict murdered \u201cat least 403 people, at least 146 children among them, including obvious minors, as well as elderly and helpless persons and pregnant women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the prosecutors, Wynnycky commanded the first company of Schutzmannschaft Battalion 118, which carried out punitive operations in the Minsk, Viciebsk and Hrodna regions during the Nazi occupation of Soviet Belarus. After the war, he lived in Canada and could not be brought to justice despite numerous requests from the USSR.
