October 20, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Kyiv added Belarusian gymnasts Alina Harna\u015bko and Ivan Litvinovi\u010d, who are currently competing in a neutral status, to the list of athletes that should be sanctioned, as both are reportedly involved in \u201cpropaganda activities,\u201d supporting Russia’s war on Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both athletes have regularly taken part in state-organized events in Belarus associated with Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, who backs Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine, says a document posted on war-sanctions.gur.gov.ua<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list of athletes who directly or indirectly support Russian aggression against Ukraine is compiled by the Ukrainian defense and sports ministries. It contains 177 names, most of them Russians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the war in Ukraine began in February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) urged sports federations to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from all competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, it recommended that some of them could be allowed as neutral athletes under certain conditions, such as not supporting the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2023, the IOC allowed neutrals to compete in the 2024 Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
