October 24, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Office of \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja had to cancel her first ever official visit to Armenia, where the Belarusian opposition leader hoped to attend a Euronest meeting on October 28\u201330, 15min.lt<\/em> reported, citing her adviser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The adviser, Dzianis Ku\u010dynski, linked the cancellation to Lithuania\u2019s decision to suspend top-level security for Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s foreign trips. \u201cWe hoped that they would make an exception for high-risk countries. Unfortunately, that was not the case,\u201d Ku\u010dynski said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the visit could represent a significant step toward consolidating cooperation and expanding common European outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he emphasized that he was not criticizing Lithuania\u2019s decision. The Office is grateful to Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus\u0117da, Foreign Minister K\u0119stutis Budrys and Seimas Speaker Juozas Olekas for their help, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, media reported that Lithuania moved to downgrade security for Cichano\u016dskaja, who lives in Vilnius with her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, authorities reportedly reinstated security protection until a new arrangement is approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
