October 28, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Minsk would resume dialogue with the European Union if Brussels respects the current Belarusian authorities, Russia\u2019s TASS<\/em> reported, citing Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d also said that Minsk seeks the restoration of all EU mechanisms for combating irregular migration. \u201cOur neighbors have terminated all cooperation agreements between border guards, customs officials, on refugee issues and between police services,\u201d the minister noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official made these statements at the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security today. It is unclear what prompted his remarks, as the EU has shown no intention to restore relations with Minsk and recently expanded sanctions to include two individuals, three companies and three banks from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few years, democratic countries have imposed multiple restrictions on Belarus over human rights abuses, alleged vote rigging in the 2020 presidential election, a brutal crackdown on protesters, the forced landing of a Ryanair flight, a migration crisis at the EU border, as well as support for Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
