October 29, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Poland did not allow at least 50 third-country foreigners to cross irregularly via Belarus yesterday, as Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced readiness to reopen two more border crossings with Belarus as a trial next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This number set a weekly record high, according to Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of border guards\u2019 data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past seven months, the number of irregular crossings into Poland typically ranged from 23 to 341 per day, dropping to the record lows of 17 and 16 attempts on October 23 and 27, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland reported 1,899 irregular border crossings from October 1 to 28, an increase of 34.7 percent compared with the total for October 2024, and 28,309 attempts since the start of 2025, 0.5 percent more year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people desperate to cross into the European Union surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2021, the Belarusian government suspended a readmission agreement with the EU in response to sanctions that followed the forced landing of a Ryanair flight in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latvia, Lithuania and Poland call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ku\u017anica, one of the border crossings that Poland considers reopening, was closed in 2021 over a surge in irregular migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
